BABY-SITTING at the Family Rec. Center
Baby-sitting will be offered during Jazzercise class times, free of charge, for children up to age 7, at all classes EXCEPT 5:45AM.
YOUR CHILD MUST BE SIGNED IN AND DROPPED OFF AT THE BABY-SITTING ROOM BEFORE CLASS BEGINS. Please be prepared to show your Jazzercise pass in the baby-sitting room. Children are NOT allowed in the aerobics room unless child is working out with a parent (paid student pass).
Children 8 years old and older can play in the Rec. Center's game room during evening class times. Children can use the computers and can check out paddles for ping pong and air hockey at the front registration desk. Controllers for all video games can be checked out by FAMILY RECREATION CENTER members only.
PARENTS WITH CHILDREN IN DIAPERS: Please change your child's diapers before dropping them off in the child care room. There is a diaper changing station in the bathroom next to the aerobics room for your convenience. If your child requires changing during class time, you will be asked to leave the class to tend to your child.
To avoid incidents related to choking hazards and food alergies, we ask children DO NOT BRING SNACKS in the baby-sitting room. Sippy cups and bottles are allowable.
Please DO NOT bring children who have runny noses/coughing/pink eye/rashes (etc.) or seem to be starting a cold/illness. As we enter cold and flu season, we ask that you keep sick children (coughs, runny nose, fever, rashes, etc.) home to avoid spreading illnesses to other children as well as the care staff. We reserve the right to turn away children exhibiting symptoms.
The safety of your children is of utmost importance to us. It is for this reason that we will enforce rules of good behavior in the child careroom. Severe discipline issues will be handled by pulling the parent out of class to address the child. After three repeated incidents, the child will not be allowed to return to the childcare room.
We are pleased to offer baby-sitting, at NO charge to you. Our baby-sitters are VOLUNTEERING their time to give tender care to your child. Please THANK them today!!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED COOPERATION AND CONSIDERATION!
SHOES!!
Pain in the knees? Lower back? Have you looked at your shoes??!!
Proper footwear in class is incredibly important! You should choose a shoe designed for an aerobic workout such as an aerobic shoe or "studio" shoe. This type of shoe will support the foot properly and absorb shock for all of your joints.
WHAT NOT TO WEAR!!! Running/walking and cross training shoes are inappropriate for Jazzercise. They are designed to absorb the impact from the heel to the toe rather than toe to heel, which is how we typically "land" with our movements in class. The soles of running/walking shoes offer traction. In Jazzercise, you'll want a shoe with a smoother surface that will allow easy pivots, direction changes and lateral movement.
If you have any question about proper footwear, please talk to your instructor. We're happy to help!!!
WATER!!
Are you drinking enough water? Studies show 8 glasses of water should be consumed daily to maintain healthy hydration. You should drink water before, during and after your workouts!
Be sure to bring your water to class, but do your part for the environment: Use a refillable water bottle instead of bottled water to cut down on plastic waste!
WEATHER RELATED CANCELLATIONS
In the event of adverse weather conditions, an announcement will be made on the outgoing message, 526-5598, as well as on this website.
If KISD cancels school due to poor road conditions, Jazzercise classes will be canceled.
